- Acts 20:35(KJV)
Is it more blessed to give than to receive? I think for most of the people, the answer is no. However, the scripture tells us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Why? Isn't it seems not logical? How will be give is more blessed to give than to receive?
My last errand for the day was at the grocery store, when I needed to buy only a few items. While I was waiting in the check-out line, I began to chat with the older woman in front of me. She was carefully observing the price of each item as was scanned. Hearing her total - $3.48 - she handed the young cashier a few crumpled bills. The cashier counted on $3.00; she needed one more.
The woman, confused about the missing bill, insisted there was another dollar in her billfold. But she found none. Then she reluctanly removed the eggs from her grocery sack as I slipped the cashier one extra dollar. Surprised, the woman glanced at me and said. "What did you do?" I answered her question with a smile and, with tears in her eyes she said, "I really needed those eggs. You will be blessed." (Strickland, K 2010)
From the short story above, we can realised that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Although the egg and extra one dollar seems completely nothing to us, but it is really needy and useful for the old woman. She really needed those egg and one extra dollar which doesn't mean very important for us. Our giving can make a difference for others just as Christ has made a difference for us.
Though For The Day
God, who Gives
Generously to Us,
Want US to Give to Others.
